First – SeaHAWKS!!!

(Had to get that out my system. Talk about a team prone to inducing heart-failure on the journey to potential glory…woo doggie.)

I have recovered from last night’s game – well enough that today I’m sharing yet another golden nugget from the LaunchCon event… actually it’s a quote and I love writer-downers from high-achieving hominids.

“You don’t have to get it right, just get it going.”

– Mike Litman

Confession – never heard of Mr. Litman before and in writing this l’il message I started a brief sojourn of discovery, looking to find out more.

Regardless – this point is SOOOO good and absolutely in line with my core beliefs about writing copy.

We freak ourselves out the gate regarding RESULTS – which absolutely puts the brakes on the creative energy necessary to crank out those jewels of persuasion.

“You don’t have to get it right, just get it going.”

To paraphrase another great saying, “the journey of a thousand words begins with but a single syllable.”

Get SOMETHING down on paper.

Anything.

Open the gates and release that Kraken.

Don’t worry about whether its tentacles tickle the ear of the reader in the most compelling way possible. Just get it down and get it going.

I just wrapped up a draft sales piece for a client and I’ll admit, it took me a bit longer than planned. But yesterday, I just dove in and started jamming everything together – all my semi-conceived notes, notions, and novelties.

Put ’em down and got ’em going.

Once I made up my mind to do so, I wrapped up a pretty darned good finished draft pronto.

Results? We’ll see – but you can’t test what you don’t have done.

“You don’t have to get it right, just get it going.”

Great advice from Mr. Litman.

Write Faster. Write Better. Write Now.
